Criteria

In case you’re wondering how I choose books for this blog, here’s some insight:

1.)  I only choose books that I enjoy, that I think are excellent and should be shared. I really enjoy picture books, so they will dominate this blog. I value art and rank it on the same level as story (especially for picture books). This is why most of my reviews include an overview of the illustrations.

2.) I have high standards for children’s books and I won’t post something just because I love an author or because I am requested to; it has to be a great book and/or a book that I feel is beneficial for children to know.

3.) What makes a great children’s book? Attention to detail, quality storytelling, great art, insightfulness, inclusion, honesty, pacing and daring.

4.) I may occasionally discuss problematic books or elements in a book for the sake of discussion and education. These posts will be housed in my “Thoughts” category.

5.) I pay special attention to diverse stories. This blog is a platform to share books that celebrate diverse cultures, ways of thinking and living. I try my best to boost #ownvoices stories too!

Guidelines for Book Submissions for Review

I take submissions but please note that your book might not be chosen for review. I will consider all requests, but whether or not I review it is at my discretion. If you’d like to contact me about me review, you can do so on my About Me page. Here are some basic guidelines for content that I consider when choosing any book for review:

  • Well written, excellent story
  • High quality art & design
  • Promotes diversity/cultures/different ways of thinking

**Your book doesn’t have to be diverse (I review all kinds of books) but well written with great art & design is important.

Thanks for reading! 🙂
